though i will say that my problem with 3.0 was never that it made no sense, over all. my problem with 3.0 is that it was a terribly paced, tonally discordant nightmare where character development went to die that spent more time throwing flashy technobabble graphics at us than it did actually telling a fucking story

like y’all are free to disagree of course ive read some pretty good analysis in the film’s favor also, but holy SHIT am i still not over being bitter about what a gobsmacking disappointment that movie was.

since the BR release, i’ve seen a lot of responses to 3.0 that posit that it is relatively ‘easy’ to grok if you have even a passingly intuitive understanding of narrative, and that the stuff that is confusing/not explained is trappings or isn’t intended to be understood/central to the film’s ‘point’ (#hi welcome to eva). i appreciate this response — especially when juxtaposed with the ‘3.0 has ruined the franchise forever with its off-the-wall stuff and lack of explanation and out of left field nature, also we are experiencing collective amnesia re: EoE’ opinionating — except for when it goes hand in hand with statements like the following:
